Dog City DayCare is proud of its Dog Grooming services. These are available to accomodate any need for any breed requiring Dog Grooming that you may have. Whether your Dog just needs a haircut, like the teenager who allows his hair to get “scruffy,” got tangled up in some burrs, sprayed by a skunk, is entered into a dog show, or maybe you just want your puppy or 1+ year old dog looking its best around the house! No matter how you slice it we have the finest Dog Grooming facility and personnel here at Dog City DayCare. We also offer nail trimming and dremel, anal gland expression, ear plucking and ear cleaning, dog teeth brushing, sanitary trim, paw/feet trimming, brush out, flea and tick bath, tick removal, de-shedding, blow outs and specialty shampoo and conditioning treatments just right for your pups hair type!

Dog City DayCare recommends that Dog Grooming be done every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain the nails and coat. We also recommend full brush outs in between cuts for breeds that get matted easily such as Doodles, Poodles and Shih Tzu’s. Dog City DayCare will share the various types of cuts and trims:

Kennel Cut

In the dog grooming industry this is just a basic and typical shave down of the dog’s hair. This is usually a half inch (½”) or less on their bodies. This kennel cut is a favorite for dog owners as the are inexpensive, easy to maintain, and can look very stylish.

Breed Trims

Each and every breed will have its own specific cut to enhance their already wonderful look. Typically these trims are going to be altered and adjusted show dog trims which pet owners enjoy seeing for their loved dogs.

Teddy Bear Trims

As you can imagine, this trim is one of the most popular in the Detroit Metro area. Any time someone types in Dog Grooming Near Me, 8 times out of 10 the dog owner is seeking this type of trim. When this is chosen it makes the owners dog have a style which is comparable to that of a teddy bear or puppy! A normal length is ½” or longer. The process allows for the 1st part of the process to utilize clippers, then the groomer will use a pair of scissors to allow for a faultless finale. Of course, this trim is going to take quite a bit of upkeep, however, this allows a dog owner to have their furry family member to continue looking like a puppy!

At times groomers can be very creative (believe us, they can think of some of the neatest things!) and they each have a wonderfully bazaar side that can allow for a Poodle to look like a Zebra or other Safari Animal. Essentially there are so many different styles that the groomers created that they cannot all be touched on. Needless to say there are some wonderfully creative trims and cuts out there that can be searched using various search engines.

Show Trims / Full Coat

Officially esteemed breeds each contain specialty trims which follow very specific dog show requirements. Again, these are challenging to preserve and are reserved for dog shows, retired dog shows, or these are trims that dog owners have their dogs groomed in to assure that the breed is immediately distinguishable.

Kennel Cut For Bichon Frise

The Bichon Frise kennel cut leaves approximately ½” of the dogs fur all over its body and at the same time keeps some cute hair length on the ears, face, and head. Most will see similar patterns with other groomers work and usually see only minute variances. The “Teddy Bear Cut” or “Puppy Cut” is going to be shorter around the eyes while the head portion is going to be less circular. Now, if you look closely at the show trim there will always be very specific angular shaping around the legs and a wonderful look for any Bichon Frise.

This breed of dog does not have an official breed trim. This is due to the fact that this ‘breed’ is not recognized by the AKC and, as a result, does not have any AKC Awards, however, there are non-sanctioned events for this lovely breed. The American Cockapoo Club and the Cockapoo Club of America have information for these breeds which is not specific to AKC at all. Much goes into grooming a Cockapoo and deciding on the brush is the 1st step for any groomer. All of this is taken into consideration when grooming a Cockapoo and, of course, they will always look wonderful when the job is completed here at Dog City DayCare.

Long Cockapoo

This cut is for those who wish to see the curls all over on their beloved dog. Of course the “Top Knot” is not going to be as prevalent with the Cockapoo, however, the length will always make the coat shine and the curls prominent. As well as using the best shampoo and conditioning treatments. Dog City DayCare is well versed in this type of grooming as well.
